Description
Glenza 40 mg Capsule is a prescription medicine that contains enzalutamide 40 mg. It belongs to a group of medicines called androgen receptor inhibitors and is used to treat certain advanced types of prostate cancer. Prostate cancer cells can use male hormones, such as testosterone, to grow and survive.
Glenza works by blocking the action of these hormones on prostate cancer cells. This can help slow down the growth and spread of cancer. Glenza 40 Capsule should be taken only as prescribed by your doctor. The dose and duration of treatment may vary from person to person.
Your doctor will consider the type and stage of prostate cancer, your overall health, other medicines you take, and how your body responds to treatment. Do not change the dose or stop taking Glenza without medical advice.
What Is Glenza 40 mg Capsule?
Glenza 40 mg Capsule contains enzalutamide, an androgen receptor inhibitor used for the treatment of prostate cancer. It is available as a 40 mg capsule and is marketed by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Prostate cancer can be influenced by androgens which are male hormones such as testosterone.
In some prostate cancers these hormones can activate signals that encourage cancer cells to grow. Enzalutamide helps interrupt these signals by acting on the androgen receptor.
Glenza 40 Capsule is a prescription medicine and should only be used under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional. Depending on the type and stage of prostate cancer, your doctor may prescribe it as part of a broader treatment plan. Do not start, stop, or change the dose without consulting your doctor.
How Does Glenza 40 mg Capsule Work?
Glenza 40 mg Capsule contains enzalutamide which works by blocking the action of androgen receptors. Androgens such as testosterone are male hormones that can help some prostate cancer cells grow and survive. These hormones attach to androgen receptors and send signals that support cancer cell growth.
Enzalutamide blocks these receptors and reduces the effect of male hormones on prostate cancer cells. This can help slow down the growth and spread of certain types of prostate cancer.
Glenza does not directly kill cancer cells. Instead it reduces the hormone signals that cancer cells may use to grow. Your doctor will decide whether Glenza is suitable for you based on your type of prostate cancer and overall treatment plan.
